We’re looking for someone who can represent BeetCommunity in the public, welcome international guests, host events, solve operational problems and roll up their sleeves when something practical needs to be done.
BeetCommunity in Palermo, Italy
6 hours per day | On-site position | Freelance / VAT registration required
Starting compensation: base salary + activity-based incentives
BeetCommunity is a coliving and coworking project based in Palermo, built around hospitality, community, sharing and meaningful human connections.
We welcome remote workers, digital nomads, professionals and travellers from all over the world, manage a local community of over 515 members (as of August 2026), creating an environment where people can live, work, connect and share experiences.
We are looking for someone who can become a daily point of reference for our guests and an active part of the life of our spaces, helping us maintain and continuously improve the BeetCommunity experience.
The Community and House Manager is responsible for the day-to-day guest experience, community life and overall standards of our coliving spaces.
This is a dynamic and highly hands-on role combining hospitality, customer care, problem solving, community building, event hosting and house management.
You will work closely with the management team while developing direct and personal relationships with our guests primarily at our Botanical Gardens property.
A truly hands-on role
It is important to understand the nature of this position from the beginning.
We are looking for someone who is willing to do whatever is reasonably needed to make sure our guests have a great experience and our spaces meet BeetCommunity standards.
On the same day, you might welcome an international partner, host a community event, manage a booking, solve a Wi-Fi issue, help a guest with a personal request, move furniture, organise a common area or clean something that needs immediate attention.
There is no hierarchy between “important” and “small” tasks when it comes to the guest experience.
The person representing BeetCommunity in public must also be willing to roll up their sleeves when something practical needs to be done.
This does not mean doing everything alone. It means having ownership, initiative and a practical mindset: noticing what needs to be done and making sure it gets done.
🇮🇹 🇬🇧 Fluent in Italian and English (other languages are bonus)
🚗 Valid driving licence, including driving manual
🤝 Strong hospitality and customer care attitude
🌍 Understanding of international guests, remote workers and solo travellers
💬 Strong communication and interpersonal skills
🫂 Natural ability to connect people and build community
🎤 Comfortable hosting events and representing BeetCommunity
💪 Hands-on attitude — willing to step in and do whatever is reasonably needed to maintain our standards
🧹 Attention to cleanliness, order and quality of the spaces
🧠 Strong problem-solving skills and autonomy
✅ Strong work ethic and ownership. If you take responsibility for something, you make sure it gets done
⚡ Good social energy for daily interaction with guests and events
💻 Good digital skills - work comfortably on a computer managing calendars, bookings, basic management tools
📱 Familiar with social media and digital marketing
🕐 Flexible availability, including occasional evening events and genuine emergencies
🏠 On-site role in Palermo, approximately 6 hours per day
🧾 Partita IVA / freelancer status required
🌱 Interest in growing professionally with BeetCommunity
We are looking for someone who is social, responsible, independent, practical and genuinely hospitality-oriented. You should feel comfortable interacting every day with people from different cultures, countries and backgrounds.
We value a proactive mindset: if you see a problem, even a small one, your first instinct should be to understand how it can be solved rather than waiting for someone else to notice it.
Previous experience in hospitality, hotels, BandBs, coliving, coworking, tourism, events or community management is considered a plus.
We highly value personal, professional or educational experiences that have helped you understand the needs of people travelling and working at the same time, remote workers and solo travellers.
Having travelled independently, lived abroad, participated in international programmes, worked in multicultural environments or experienced community living is therefore an advantage. We are not necessarily looking for someone coming from traditional hospitality. What matters is the ability to understand people, anticipate their needs and understand what it feels like to arrive alone in a new city or country.
A strong work ethic and sense of responsibility are essential for this position. If you take responsibility for something, we expect you to follow it through until it is completed or properly handed over.
We value people who:
Take ownership of problems.
Follow tasks through to completion.
Communicate clearly with the team.
Look for solutions before escalating problems.
Notice details without always needing to be told.
Are comfortable taking initiative.
Understand that hospitality sometimes requires adapting quickly to unexpected situations.
The mentality “this is not my job/responsabilities” is not compatible with this position.
At the same time, this does not mean working without boundaries or being responsible for everything. It means understanding that, within your role and working time, the final objective is always the same: take care of our guests, our community and our spaces.
This is a highly social position.
Every day may involve meeting new guests, answering questions, solving problems, introducing people, participating in conversations and sometimes hosting events after an already active day. You should therefore have the social energy required to sustain frequent human interaction while remaining organised, professional and empathetic.
Being outgoing is helpful, but it is not enough.
A great Community Manager does not need to be the centre of attention. They need to be able to make other people feel comfortable, included and connected.
Manage day-to-day customer care and support guests throughout their stay.
Organise and manage check-ins and check-outs.
Be a reliable point of contact for guests' questions, needs and everyday issues.
Handle operational problem solving related to hospitality.
Build positive, personal and professional relationships with guests.
Understand the specific needs of remote workers, people travelling for work and solo travellers.
Coordinate closely with the management team.
Manage simple operations related to bookings, calendars, stays and experiences.
Identify potential problems before they negatively affect the guest experience.
Ensure that all spaces consistently meet BeetCommunity hospitality standards.
Monitor cleanliness, organisation, functionality and the overall quality of the properties.
Identify maintenance issues and coordinate or report the necessary actions.
Continuously look for opportunities to improve the guest experience.
Make sure common areas remain welcoming, organised and ready to be used.
Cleaning Responsibilities
BeetCommunity has a dedicated professional cleaning service, so regular housekeeping and scheduled cleaning are not the responsibility of the Community and House Manager.
Maintaining the standard of the property, apartments and rooms is part of the responsibility. This means that if something needs immediate attention, you are expected to take action. This may include cleaning, tidying, reorganising or preparing an area rather than leaving a problem unresolved until the next scheduled cleaning service.
For example, if a guest is arriving and a bathroom is not clean enough, the expectation is simple: we fix it before the guest arrives. The goal is not to replace our cleaning team, but to ensure that our hospitality standards are maintained at all times.
Building and maintaining a real community is a fundamental part of this role.
You will:
Get to know our international guests and actively engage with them.
Facilitate connections between people from different countries and backgrounds.
Help new guests integrate naturally into the community.
Pay particular attention to solo travellers and guests who may initially find it harder to connect.
Organise activities and experiences for guests - including back-end work implementing BeetExperiences on our website
Propose new ideas to keep the community active and engaged.
Participate actively in BeetCommunity events.
Support the communication of activities through digital and social media channels.
Help create a welcoming, international and inclusive environment.
The position includes participating in and hosting occasional evening events, most importantly our weekly Potluck.
When hosting an event, you are not simply attending it. You are responsible for helping create the experience.
This includes:
Welcoming participants.
Introducing people and facilitating connections.
Representing BeetCommunity and its values.
Creating a positive atmosphere.
Keeping the environment organised and clean throughout the event.
Cleaning the space to leave to reset it to it’s everyday use standard, as if the event never happened.
Being social is therefore part of the job, but so is taking responsibility for what happens before, during and after an event.
Fluent Italian and English.
Valid driving licence, including driving manual..
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong hospitality and customer-care mindset.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Good work ethic and sense of ownership.
Ability to work independently and organise priorities.
Good digital skills.
Confidence using calendars, booking systems and basic management software.
Familiarity with social media and digital marketing.
Flexibility in organising working hours.
Availability to occasionally participate in and host evening activities and events.
Reasonable availability in case of genuine guest or property emergencies.
Use of personal laptop and phone in full working condition
VAT registration / freelancer status
This is an on-site position in Palermo and cannot be performed remotely. The expected commitment is approximately 6 hours per day, with flexibility in how working hours are organised according to operational needs, arrivals, departures, community activities and events.
Some weeks you may work 9 - 15, for four of the days, and the fifth day 18:00 - 23:00. The next week could be 9 - 15 alternating days, and the other days starting at 13:00 - 19:00.
This role is best suited to someone who enjoys a dynamic environment where priorities can change, rather than a job where every day follows exactly the same routine.
There is a base monthly salary.
There is the opportunity to earn additional financial incentives by developing, organising and managing paid activities and experiences for guests and the wider community.
This position has a strong potential for both professional and financial growth. Our goal is for the Community and House Manager to gradually gain greater autonomy and responsibility across operations, guest experience and community management.
As the role, responsibilities and BeetCommunity grow, the compensation is expected to grow accordingly.
In the future, the Community and House Manager may be supported by a Junior team member, taking responsibility for coordinating part of their operational work.
We are looking for someone who is not simply interested in completing a list of daily tasks, but who wants to grow with the project, contribute to its development and progressively become a key person in BeetCommunity.
