You’ll get to experience for a day what it means to live in a small Sicilian town, where everyone knows each other - a feeling of true community, espressos are €1, margherita pizzas are €5 (we’ve gone ourselves to see the prices), and there’s a sense of relaxation inside the town.
To celebrate this heritage, the town is hosting their prestigious Gattopardo Cinefestival, and we are combining our remote work day with this incredible cultural event.
We will cowork in the day, enjoy lunch together, learn a little bit of history and join Marco Traina, BeetCommunity’s Founder and Ambra Terrasi, Beet’s Head of Communication for the evening festival where they’ll talk about: Sustainable Tourism, Coliving, and Digital Nomads, exploring how remote work can revitalize historic Italian villages. Please note this presentation will be given in Italian.
Ciminna is a town steeped in cinema history. It was chosen by director Luchino Visconti as the main filming location for his masterpiece film, Il Gattopardo (The Leopard), and it is the ancestral home of Martin Scorsese’s family!
We’ll be going in 2 cars (flexible depending on people’s schedules)
Time will be adjusted based on group's schedules
8:00 Depart from Beet Botanical Gardens to arrive in Ciminna at the coworking space for a 9:00 working day start.
9:00 - 13:00 Deep work session at our Ciminna’s new coworking space (desks, chairs and strong Wi-Fi!).
Lunch We’ll join the rest of the group for a Sicilian lunch (get your appetites ready)
11:00 Depart from Beet Botanical Gardens
12:00 Arrive in Ciminna to stretch your legs and join the group for lunch
13:00 Communal Lunch: Gather as a group for lunch to taste the true, local flavors of the territory, and experience the benefits of small town Sicily, the food being grown and produced next door.
14:30 Free Time: The coworking space will be open if you need to return to your desk. Option to walk around Ciminna and see iconic sites (please note the town has a few hills and it will be hot, dress accordingly)
17:30 The Cinefestival Event: The main highlight! Our very own Marco and Ambra will be on stage at the festival delivering a speech (in Italian) on Sustainable Tourism, Coliving, and Digital Nomadism.
19:00 Return: Pack up and drive back, arriving back at Beet Botanical Gardens in Palermo by 20:00.
If this schedule doesn’t work for your day, here are buses going to and from Palermo and Ciminna, supplied by Ast. Times are limited and the last bus from Ciminna leaves at 3:15 pm.
